What to do if your HeatPod feels like it's not getting got enough

    1. Connecting your HeatPod
      a. Turn off the HeatPod, unplug from the power supply and disconnect the controller from the blanket. If the controller is not firmly connected to the blanket, it can affect the performance of the HeatPod product.
      b. Old or low quality extension cords or powerboards can cause performance issues, so do plug the HeatPod directly into the power socket on the wall.
      c. Make sure to set the temperature at 176°F (80°C), which is the maximum temperature setting.

    2. Setting up your HeatPod
      a. Place the HeatPod on a flat, heat-resistant surface (such as a yoga or exercise mat; or a carpet made of heat-resistant materials such as wool, cotton, polyester or nylon). This will ensure that heat stays within the blanket.
      b. Preheating is essential. The longer you allow the HeatPod to preheat, the hotter it will become. Allow for at least 15 minutes of pre-heating. 30 minutes of pre-heating may be required in the winter time, if the air is cold and if you want to ensure your HeatPod is reaching its maximum temperature.
      c. Just like a traditional sauna, the HeatPod will take time to warm up. This is especially true in the colder months or if your room is particularly cold. We recommend using the HeatPod in a room with an ambient temperature of around 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C).

    3. Maximize heat retention
      a. Drape a large towel such as the HeatPod Towel Insert over your shoulders so that it covers the opening at the top of the HeatPod. This will ensure maximum heat retention.
      b. When you enter the HeatPod, try to enter from the top without opening the blanket fully, so that the heat generated by the HeatPod during preheating does not escape.

    4. Getting your body ready
      a. While your HeatPod is preheating, you may prime your body to sweat by:
        i.   Taking a warm shower before your sauna. This will help to open your pores and activate      your sweat glands.
ii.   Staying well hydrated (a warm cup of water is perfect).
iii. Dry brushing your skin. This will help to rejuvenate your skin, as well as activate your lymphatic system.
iv.  Engaging in light cardio exercise to get your heart rate up and blood flowing (optional, but a great way to kick-start your sauna session).

It may take time for some to be “sauna fit”, which refers to your body  progressively adapting to sweat better over time with consistent use of heat therapy. If you are not sweating right away, that is fine. Your body may need time to adjust.

If you have followed the above steps and find that your HeatPod is simply not getting hotter, please reach out to our Customer Support team for help.

The simplest way to know if your HeatPod is not getting hot is to let it run a full cycle (i.e., 60 minutes) with no one inside, just like you would if you were preheating it.

At the end of a full cycle, place your hand into the blanket and feel the fabric. You should immediately be able to tell if the HeatPod is working or not, as it should be quite hot to the touch after 60-minutes.
